أَخْبَرَنَا أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي عَمْرٍو السَّيْبَانِيِّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الدَّيْلَمِيِّ، قَالَ: "بَلَغَنِي أَنَّ أَوَّلَ ذَهَابِ الدِّينِ تَرْكُ السُّنَّةُ، يَذْهَبُ الدِّينُ سُنَّةً سُنَّةً، كَمَا يَذْهَبُ الْحَبْلُ قُوَّةً قُوَّةً".
Abdullah al-Daylami said: It has reached us that the first decline of the religion will be due to the abandonment of the Sunnah. The religion will be taken away, one Sunnah at a time, just as a rope is untied, knot by knot.
