Hadith 87

Umar bin Muhammad narrated from his father that whenever I heard (saw) Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) mention the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), he would begin to weep.

Brief Explanation
(Commentary on Hadiths 84 to 87)

From this narration, one can gauge the immense love and sincerity that Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Umar radi Allahu anhuma had for the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, such that whenever the Beloved was mentioned, his eyes would overflow with tears.

Weeping in remembrance of the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam or anyone else is not blameworthy, as will also be established by the ahadith that follow.
