Brief Explanation
(Commentary on Ahadith 828 to 830)
The summary of all these narrations is that a woman who knows the number of days of her menstrual period—whether 5, 6, or 7 days—and if bleeding continues after that, then during the days of menstruation (hayd) she will refrain from prayer, and for the remaining days she will perform ritual bath (ghusl) and offer prayers.
In some narrations, it is mentioned that she should perform ritual bath (ghusl) only once at the beginning, and as long as this condition persists, she should maintain cleanliness and perform ablution (wudu) before prayer, and she may also fast, and she will be lawful for her husband.
In some narrations, it is stated that she should perform ritual bath (ghusl) once a day.
In some narrations, it is mentioned that she should perform one ritual bath (ghusl) for Zuhr and Asr, one for Maghrib and Isha, and one for Fajr.
