It is narrated from Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was informed about the prayer during his illness of death, he said: "Tell Abu Bakr to lead the prayer." Then he fell unconscious. When he regained consciousness, he (peace and blessings be upon him) asked (the noble wives): "Did you tell Abu Bakr to lead the prayer?" (Sayyidah Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, says) I said: Abu Bakr is soft-hearted; I wish you would order Umar (to lead the prayer). He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You are like the women who were with Yusuf. Tell Abu Bakr to lead the people in prayer, otherwise many people will desire it and talk about it, but Allah and the believers will refuse (anyone else)."
