It is narrated from Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that Sayyida Umm Habibah bint Jahsh (may Allah be pleased with her) suffered from the illness of istihada (non-menstrual bleeding) during the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) instructed her to perform ghusl for every prayer. So she would immerse herself in a tub filled with water, then when she came out, the blood would rise to the surface of the water, and then she would perform the prayer.
