Hadith 794

It is narrated from Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to her: "Hand me the mat." She replied: "I am menstruating." He said: "Menstruation is not in your hand."

Brief Explanation
(Commentary on Hadith 793)

From this hadith, it is established that a woman in the state of menstruation (hayd) may engage in household chores, i.e., she can wash utensils, cook food, and serve her husband.

From other ahadith, the permissibility and clarification have come regarding eating with a menstruating woman, having intimacy (except intercourse), having her comb one’s hair, etc.—all these are allowed.
