It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came out to us during his illness of death, there was a bandage tied on his head, he reached the pulpit and sat on it, and we followed behind him. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "By the One in Whose hand is my soul, I am witnessing the Hawd (Pond of Kawthar) from this place." Then he said: "A servant was presented with the world and its adornment, but he chose the Hereafter." The narrator said: No one understood this except Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him), so his eyes filled with tears, he began to weep and said: O Messenger of Allah, may our fathers, mothers, lives, and wealth be sacrificed for you. The narrator said: Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) descended and did not stand on it again until his death.

Brief Explanation
(Commentary on Hadiths 75 to 78)
From this narration, the following are established:
- The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) being afflicted by illness like any other human being. - His (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) eagerness to advise the Ummah even in the state of sickness. - That a Prophet and Messenger is given a choice before death. - The virtue of Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (radi Allahu anhu), his sharp understanding, and his immense love for the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam), such that he wished to sacrifice his life and wealth for him (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam).
