Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Ja'far (may Allah be pleased with him) said that one day the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) made me ride behind him and whispered to me something which I will never tell anyone, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) loved most, for privacy when relieving himself, a mound or a cluster of date palms.

From this, the lesson of safeguarding secrets is derived. Furthermore, it teaches that there must be a screen (barrier) for relieving oneself; sitting openly on a pathway or by the roadside is a cause of shame and contrary to the Shari‘ah. And we seek refuge with Allah (wa’l-‘iyadhu billah).
