Hadith 773

Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and I used to perform ghusl from the same vessel, which was called Faraq.

Brief Explanation
(Explanation of Ahadith 771 to 773)
«فرق» refers to a copper tub in which approximately ten liters of water would fit. From this hadith, it is established that husband and wife may perform the ritual bath (ghusl) of janabah together. In an authentic narration, it is mentioned that our hands would touch and there would be playful grabbing to take hold of the lota (water jug) or bowl; the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam would say, "Let go," and I would say, "You let go." This is such a beautiful example of good marital conduct.
