باب في وَفَاةِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:Chapter: The Death of the Prophet
Hadith 76
حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، قَالَ: قَالَ الْعَبَّاسُ رِضْوَانُ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ: لَأَعْلَمَنَّ مَا بَقَاءُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِينَا ؟، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، إِنِّي أَرَاهُمْ قَدْ آذَوْكَ وَآذَاكَ غُبَارُهُمْ، فَلَوِ اتَّخَذْتَ عَرِيشًا تُكَلِّمُهُمْ مِنْهُ ؟، فَقَالَ: "لَا أَزَالُ بَيْنَ أَظْهُرِهِمْ يَطَئُونَ عَقِبِي، وَيُنَازِعُونِي رِدَائِي حَتَّى يَكُونَ اللَّهُ هُوَ الَّذِي يُرِيحُنِي مِنْهُمْ"، قَالَ: فَعَلِمْتُ أَنَّ بَقَاءَهُ فِينَا قَلِيلٌ.
Sayyiduna Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I will certainly find out how long the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) will remain alive. So he said: O Messenger of Allah! I know that not only have the people caused you harm, but even their dust has caused you harm. If you would make a platform so that you could speak to them from it? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I am still present among them, they keep crushing my heels, they keep pulling my cloak, only Allah will grant me relief from them." Sayyiduna Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: So I understood that now you will remain alive among us for only a few days.
