باب في تَوَاضُعِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:Chapter: The Humility of the Messenger of Allah
Hadith 75
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ مُوسَى، حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ وَاقِدٍ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ عُقَيْلٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي أَوْفَى رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ، قَالَ: "كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُكْثِرُ الذِّكْرَ، وَيُقِلُّ اللَّغْوَ، وَيُطِيلُ الصَّلَاةَ، وَيُقْصِرُ الْخُطْبَةَ، وَلَا يَأْنَفُ وَلَا يَسْتَنْكِفُ أَنْ يَمْشِيَ مَعَ الْأَرْمَلَةِ وَالْمِسْكِينِ فَيَقْضِيَ لَهُمَا حَاجَتَهُمَا".
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abi Awfa (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to remember Allah much and speak little without purpose. He would prolong the prayer and shorten the sermon. He would neither speak ill nor show arrogance. He would walk with widows and the needy and fulfill their needs and requirements.
