Humran, the freed slave of Uthman bin Affan, narrates that Sayyiduna Uthman bin Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) performed ablution; he rinsed his mouth, cleaned his nose, washed his face three times, washed both his hands (up to the elbows) three times, then wiped his head, and washed his feet (up to the ankles) three times. Then he said: I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) perform ablution exactly as I have done. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Whoever performs ablution like this of mine, then prays two rak‘ahs in which he does not think of anything else, his past sins will be forgiven.”
