باب مُذَاكَرَةِ الْعِلْمِ:Chapter: Discussing Knowledge
Hadith 623
أَخْبَرَنَا أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِكُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيل، حَدَّثَنَا مِنْدَلُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، حَدَّثَنِي جَعْفَرُ بْنُ أَبِي الْمُغِيرَةِ، حَدَّثَنِي سَعِيدُ بْنُ جُبَيْرٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ: "رُدُّوا الْحَدِيثَ وَاسْتَذْكِرُوهُ، فَإِنَّهُ إِنْ لَمْ تَذْكُرُوهُ، ذَهَبَ، وَلَا يَقُولَنَّ رَجُلٌ لِحَدِيثٍ قَدْ حَدَّثَهُ قَدْ حَدَّثْتُهُ مَرَّةً، فَإِنَّهُ مَنْ كَانَ سَمِعَهُ يَزْدَادُ بِهِ عِلْمًا، وَيَسْمَعُ مَنْ لَمْ يَسْمَعْ".
It is also narrated from Saeed bin Jubair (may Allah have mercy on him), that Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) said: Repeat and memorize the hadith; if you do not memorize it, you will forget it. And after narrating a hadith, no person should say, "I have narrated it once," because the one who heard the hadith before will have an increase in knowledge, and the one who has not heard it will now hear it.
