Hadith 600
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ سُفْيَانَ، يَقُولُ: قَالَ عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ: "شِنْتُمْ الْعِلْمَ وَأَذْهَبْتُمْ نُورَهُ، وَلَوْ أَدْرَكَنِي وَإِيَّاكُمْ عُمَرُ رِضْوَانُ الله عَلَيْهِ لَأَوْجَعَنَا".
Sufyan used to say: Ubaidullah (Ibn Umar) said: You have stained knowledge and wasted its light. If I and you had been caught by our master Umar (may Allah be pleased with them all), he would have beaten us.
