It is narrated from Sayyiduna Samurah bin Jundub (may Allah be pleased with him) that a vessel filled with tharid was brought to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and placed before the people, and from morning till noon people kept eating from it in turns; one group would stand up and another group would sit down. A man said to Sayyiduna Samurah bin Jundub (may Allah be pleased with him): Was anything else added to this vessel or bowl? Sayyiduna Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Why are you surprised? And he pointed towards the sky and said: Food was coming into it from there.
❀ These hadiths establish that, just as sustenance would come from the heavens for Prophet Zakariya (alayhis salam) and Maryam (alayha as-salam), at times sustenance would also descend from the heavens for the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam).
❀ This hadith proves the miracle and extraordinary sign (karamah) of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam), that a small vessel of tharid (bread soaked in broth) sufficed for people to eat from morning until evening.
❀ This extraordinary sign (karamah) was from Allah Ta'ala, Who granted it to His servant and Messenger (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam); otherwise, man has no power over such matters, as indicated by Sayyiduna Samurah (radi Allahu anhu), who alluded to the fact that the food was coming from there (i.e., from Allah).
´Narrated Abu Al-'Ala:` from Samurah bin Jundab that he said: "We were with the Prophet (ﷺ) and we would take turns (eating) from a bowl from the morning till the evening. Ten would stand and ten would sit." We said: "So what was filling it up?' He said: "What are you amazed at? It wasn't filled up from anywhere but here, and he pointed with his hand towards the sky."

Explanation: 1: That is, the food continued to be increased miraculously by Allah, and this is evidence of your (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) prophethood.
