باب مَنْ كَرِهَ الشُّهْرَةَ وَالْمَعْرِفَةَ:Chapter: Dislike of Seeking Fame and Recognition
Hadith 555
أَخْبَرَنَا أَخْبَرَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ عُمَارَةَ بْنِ غَزِيَّةَ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ رَاشِدٍ، حَدَّثَنِي فُلَانٌ الْعُرَنِيُّ، عَنْ مُعَاذِ بْنِ جَبَلٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ، قَالَ: "لَا يَدَعُ اللَّهُ الْعِبَادَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ يَوْمَ يَقُومُ النَّاسُ لِرَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ حَتَّى يَسْأَلَهُمْ عَنْ أَرْبَعٍ: عَمَّا أَفْنَوْا فِيهِ أَعْمَارَهُمْ، وَعَمَّا أَبْلَوْا فِيهِ أَجْسَادَهُمْ، وَعَمَّا كَسَبُوا وفِيمَا أَنْفَقُوا، وَعَمَّا عَمِلُوا فِيمَا عَلِمُوا".
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him), he said: On the Day of Resurrection, when people will be standing before the Lord of the worlds, Allah Almighty will not let the servants go before asking them about four things: How did you spend your life? In what did you use your body? How did you earn your wealth and in what did you spend it? And how much did you act upon the knowledge you acquired?
