باب مَنْ لَمْ يَرَ كِتَابَةَ الْحَدِيثِ:Chapter: Those Who Disapproved of Writing Hadith
Hadith 467
أَخْبَرَنَا أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِي خَلَفٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ مَهْدِيٍّ، يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ مَالِكَ بْنَ أَنَسٍ، يَقُولُ: جَاءَ الزُّهْرِيُّ بِحَدِيثٍ فَلَقِيتُهُ فِي بَعْضِ الطَّرِيقِ، فَأَخَذْتُ بِلِجَامِهِ، فَقُلْتُ: يَا أَبَا بَكْرٍ، أَعِدْ عَلَيَّ الْحَدِيثَ الَّذِي حَدَّثْتَنَا بِهِ، قَالَ: "وَتَسْتَعِيدُ الْحَدِيثَ ؟، قَالَ: قُلْتُ: وَمَا كُنْتَ تَسْتَعِيدُ الْحَدِيثَ ؟، قَالَ: لَا، قُلْتُ: وَلَا تَكْتُبُ ؟، قَالَ: لَا".
Abdur Rahman bin Mahdi says: I heard Imam Malik bin Anas, may Allah have mercy on him, say that Ibn Shihab Zuhri narrated a hadith and left. I met him on the way and held his reins, then I said: O Abu Bakr! Please narrate to me again the same hadith which you have already narrated. He said: Do you want to hear it again? I said: Did you not listen to it again? He said: No. I said: And did you not write it down either? He said: No.
