أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يَزِيدَ، حَدَّثَنَا كَهْمَسُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ، قَالَ: رَأَى عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُغَفَّلٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ رَجُلًا مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ يَخْذِفُ، فَقَالَ: لَا تَخْذِفْ، فَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: "كَانَ يَنْهَى عَنْ الْخَذْفِ أَوْ كَانَ يَكْرَه الْخَذْفَ"، وَقَالَ: "وَإِنَّهُ لَا يُنْكَأُ بِهِ عَدُوٌّ، وَلَا يُصَادُ بِهِ صَيْدٌ، وَلَكِنَّهُ قَدْ يَفْقَأُ الْعَيْنَ، وَيَكْسِرُ السِّنَّ"، ثُمَّ رَآهُ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ يَخْذِفُ، فَقَالَ لَهُ: أَلَمْ أُخْبِرْكَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَنْهَى عَنْهُ، ثُمَّ أَرَاكَ تَخْذِفُ، وَاللَّهِ لَا أُكَلِّمُكَ أَبَدًا.

Abdullah bin Buraidah said: Our master Abdullah bin Mughaffal (may Allah be pleased with him) saw one of his companions throwing pebbles. So he said: Do not throw pebbles, because the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade throwing pebbles. (In another narration) he did not like throwing pebbles. Also, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "With it, neither can an enemy be harmed nor can game be hunted, but it may sometimes put out an eye or break a tooth." After that, he again saw him throwing pebbles, so he said: Did I not tell you that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade it? Even so, I see you throwing pebbles. By Allah, I will never speak to you again.
