أَخْبَرَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُغَفَّلٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ، قَالَ: نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ "عَنْ الْخَذْفِ"وَقَالَ: "إِنَّهَا لَا تَصْطَادُ صَيْدًا، وَلَا تَنْكِأُ عَدُوًّا، وَلَكِنَّهَا تَكْسِرُ السِّنَّ، وَتَفْقَأُ الْعَيْنَ"، فَرَفَعَ رَجُلٌ بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ سَعِيدٍ قَرَابَةٌ شَيْئًا مِنْ الْأَرْضِ، فَقَالَ: هَذِهِ ؟ وَمَا تَكُونُ هَذِهِ ؟، فَقَالَ سَعِيدٌ: أَلَا أُرَانِي أُحَدِّثُكَ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ثُمَّ تَهَاوَنُ بِهِ، لَا أُكَلِّمُكَ أَبَدًا.

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mughaffal (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade throwing pebbles and said: "This pebble can neither hunt a bird nor harm an enemy, except that it may break a tooth or gouge out an eye." Then Sa'id bin Jubair and a person who was related to him by kinship, he picked something up from the ground and said: What importance can this have? Sa'id bin Jubair said: Do you not see that I am narrating to you the hadith of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and yet you consider it insignificant? I will never speak to you again.
