Hadith 429

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ مِسْعَرٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ سَعْدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ: "لَا يُحَدِّثْ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ إِلَّا الثِّقَاتُ".
Sa’d bin Ibrahim said: Only trustworthy narrators report hadith from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him.
Brief Explanation
(Commentary on Hadith 428)
In the aforementioned narration, there is encouragement that the one who narrates and transmits hadith from the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) should be trustworthy (thiqah), just as it is mentioned in the hadith: «لَا يَحْمِلْ هٰذَا الْعِلْمَ إِلَّا عُدُوُ لَهُ (أو كما قال عليه السلام)».
