Hadith 423

أَخْبَرَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَ سَعِيدُ بْنُ جُبَيْرٍ يَوْمًا بِحَدِيثٍ فَقُمْتُ إِلَيْهِ فَاسْتَعَدْتُهُ، فَقَالَ لِي: "مَا كُلَّ سَاعَةٍ أَحْلُبُ فَأُشْرَبُ".
Ayyub (as-Sakhtiyani) said: Sa'id bin Jubayr narrated a hadith one day, so I stood up and requested: Please repeat it twice. He replied: I do not milk (the animal) every moment, nor do I drink (every moment).
Brief Explanation

That is, it is not always the case that whenever you ask for something, you will definitely get it; therefore, consider the opportunity as precious and make use of it, and do not be heedless in this regard.
«مَا كُلُّ سَاعَةٍ أَحْلُبُ» This is a proverb; its meaning and explanation have been stated.
