Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would stand for the sermon on Friday, he would lean his back against a trunk in the mosque. A Roman man came to him and said, "Shall I make something for you on which, even if you are sitting, it will appear as if you are standing?" So he made a pulpit, on the first two steps of which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would stand, and on the third he would sit. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sat on it, that trunk began to moan like a bull in the sorrow of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and the mosque began to resound. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) went to it and embraced it, and it became silent. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "By Him in Whose hand is my soul, if I had not embraced it, it would have continued to cry in the separation of Allah's Messenger until the Day of Resurrection." Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered and the trunk was buried.
❀ From all these narrations, it is established that the wood and the trunk wept, spoke, and loved the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam.
❀ Likewise, the legitimacy of the pulpit (minbar) and delivering the sermon while standing upon it is also established.
❀ The Prophet of Mercy’s affection and kindness towards trees and plants is also proven.
❀ The giving of knowledge of the unseen, as in the statement: “If I had not embraced it, it would have continued to weep until the Day of Resurrection,” is evidence of your sallallahu alayhi wa sallam being a truthful Messenger.
❀ The power of speech is in the hand of Allah Ta’ala; He grants it to whomever He wills among humans, animals, plants, and inanimate objects, and withholds this power from whomever He wills. «الَّذِيأَنْطَقَكُلَّشَيْءٍ»[فصلت: 21]
❀ Maulana Waheeduz-Zaman sahib has written: When Hasan al-Basri rahimahullah would narrate this hadith, he would say: O Muslims! A piece of wood wept out of love for the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, out of longing to meet him, and you do not possess even as much longing and love to meet him (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) as a piece of wood. ´Narrated Anas bin Malik:` "The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to give Khutbah next to a tree, and then they made a Minbar for him, so he gave Khutbahs on it, so the tree whimpered like a camel. So the Prophet (ﷺ) rubbed it, and it quieted."

Explanation: 1: This is one of the important evidences for the Prophethood of the Messenger (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam).
