It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that before the pulpit was built, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) used to deliver the sermon leaning against a trunk. Then, when the pulpit was made and he turned towards it, that trunk began to weep. The Prophet (peace be upon him) embraced it, and it became quiet. He said: "If I had not embraced it, it would have continued to weep until the Day of Resurrection."
