باب التَّوْبِيخِ لِمَنْ يَطْلُبُ الْعِلْمَ لِغَيْرِ اللَّهِ:Chapter: Rebuke for Seeking Knowledge for Other Than Allah
Hadith 381
أَخْبَرَنَا نُعَيْمُ بْنُ حَمَّادٍ، حَدَّثَنَا بَقِيَّةُ، عَنْ الْأَحْوَصِ بْنِ حَكِيمٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ: سَأَلَ رَجُلٌ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ الشَّرِّ، فَقَالَ: "لَا تَسْأَلُونِي عَنْ الشَّرِّ، وَاسْأَلُونِي عَنْ الْخَيْرِ، يَقُولُهَا ثَلَاثًا، ثُمَّ قَالَ: "أَلَا إِنَّ شَرَّ الشَّرِّ شِرَارُ الْعُلَمَاءِ، وَإِنَّ خَيْرَ الْخَيْرِ خِيَارُ الْعُلَمَاءِ".
Ahwas bin Hakim narrated from his father that a man asked the Prophet (peace be upon him) about evil, so the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Do not ask me about evil (badness), rather ask me about goodness." He said this three times, then said: "Beware! The greatest evil and harm is the evil of the scholars, and the greatest goodness is the goodness of the scholars."
