Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I asked, “O Messenger of Allah! In how many days should I complete the recitation of the Noble Qur’an?” He said, “In one month.” I said, “I have the strength to do more than that.” He said, “Complete it in twenty-five days.” I said, “I have the strength to do more than that.” He said, “Complete it in fifteen days.” I said, “I have the strength to do more than that.” He said, “Complete it in ten days.” I said, “I have the strength to do more than that.” He said, “Complete it in five days.” I said, “I have the strength to do more than that.” The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Not less than this.”

Brief Explanation
(Commentary on Ahadith 3511 to 3518)
From this it is understood that one should complete the recitation of the Qur’an in at least five days. In some authentic narrations, three days are also mentioned, as will come later (kama sa-ya’ti). However, it should not take more than a month to complete the Qur’an. How many among us are there who only read or listen to the Noble Qur’an during Ramadan, and remain heedless of the recitation of the Divine Speech throughout the rest of the year. «(هدانا اللّٰه وإياهم، آمين)»
