باب في فَضْلِ الْعِلْمِ وَالْعَالِمِ:Chapter: The Virtue of Knowledge and the Scholar
Hadith 350
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ، حَدَّثَنِي هَارُونُ بْنُ رِئَابٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ، أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقُولُ: "اغْدُ عَالِمًا أَوْ مُتَعَلِّمًا، وَلَا تَغْدُ فِيمَا بَيْنَ ذَلِكَ، فَإِنَّ مَا بَيْنَ ذَلِكَ جَاهِلٌ، وَإِنَّ الْمَلَائِكَةَ تَبْسُطُ أَجْنِحَتَهَا لِلرَّجُلِ غَدَا يَبْتَغِي الْعِلْمَ مِنْ الرِّضَاءِ بِمَا يَصْنَعُ".
Harun bin Rabab said: Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) used to say: "Become a scholar or a learner, and do not be among those in between, for those in between are ignorant. Indeed, the angels, pleased with the action of a person who sets out to seek knowledge, spread their wings for him."
