Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever recites «﴿قُلْ هُوَ اللّٰهُ أَحَدٌ﴾» fifty times, fifty years of his sins will be forgiven."
Brief Explanation
(Commentary on Hadiths 3468 to 3470)
Surah al-Ikhlas is such a blessed and noble surah, filled with the blessed attributes of Allah Ta’ala. In it, Allah the Exalted’s oneness, His being the self-sufficient deity, His being free from having a child (offspring), His not being born from anyone, and His being without any equal or peer—that is, His being incomparable—are all mentioned. Such excellent and reality-based attributes are mentioned in this noble surah with great brevity. Whoever understands these attributes, loves them, and continues to recite this surah, certainly Allah Ta’ala will also love him. And the demand of His love is that He forgives the sins of His servant, grants him well-being in both worlds, and bestows upon him the ability to obey Him. And it is incumbent upon the servant that he worships and serves only Allah Ta’ala, obeys and submits to Him with sincerity and true devotion, remembers Him from the heart, and gives precedence to His love and attachment to His names and attributes over everything else in the world.
(Wahidi, with adaptation).
This is the grace and favor of Allah Ta’ala that He has given superiority to some verses and surahs over others, and through the tongue of Prophethood has explained their virtues, so that sinful and erring humans may continue to fill their hands with the endless blessings and mercies of Allah Ta’ala and attain happiness in both worlds; that they may do little action but receive such immense reward and recompense that it cannot be imagined. May Allah Ta’ala grant us understanding and the ability to act, Ameen.
And regarding those verses and surahs whose virtue is not established by a sahih hadith, it is better not to act upon them, because for any verse or surah that had a virtue, the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam made it clear, and for those that had no virtue, he sallallahu alayhi wa sallam remained silent.
