It is narrated from Sha’bi (may Allah have mercy on him) that Sayyiduna Ibn Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Whoever recites the first four verses of Surah Al-Baqarah, Ayat al-Kursi, the two verses following it, and the last three verses of the surah, Satan will not come near him or his family that day, nor will anything occur that he dislikes. And if these verses are recited over a mad person, he will recover.
