Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: One of the companions of Muhammad (peace be upon him) met a jinn from among the jinn and wrestled with him, and that man threw the jinn down. He said: You seem to have a weak body and look exhausted; your wrists are like the wrists of a dog. Are all the jinn like this, or is it only you among them who are (weak and frail) like this? The jinn replied: By Allah! I am among the strong-boned ones of the jinn. Wrestle with me again; if you throw me down again, I will tell you something that will benefit you. The companion said: Alright, come on. Then he threw the jinn down again and said: Now tell me that thing. The jinn said: Do you recite «﴿اللَّهُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّومُ . . . . . .﴾» (Ayat al-Kursi)? He said: Yes, I do. The jinn said: Whenever you recite it in any house, the devil will leave it passing wind like a donkey, and until morning that devil will not enter that house. Imam Darimi (may Allah have mercy on him) said: The meaning of «الضيئل» is weak and frail, and «الشخيت» means exhausted, «الضليع» means having good strong ribs, and «الخبج» means wind.
