Hadith 3400

أَخْبَرَنَا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ، وَهَمَّامٌ، قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ، عَنْ زُرَارَةَ بْنِ أَوْفَى، عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ هِشَامٍ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ: "الَّذِي يَقْرَأُ الْقُرْآنَ وَهُوَ مَاهِرٌ بِهِ، فَهُوَ مَعَ السَّفَرَةِ الْكِرَامِ الْبَرَرَةِ، وَالَّذِي يَقْرَؤُهُ وَهُوَ يَشْتَدُّ عَلَيْهِ، فَلَهُ أَجْرَانِ".
It is narrated from Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, the person who recites the Qur'an and is proficient in it (i.e., a memorizer) will be with the noble, righteous, recording angels, and the one who recites the Qur'an and finds it difficult to recite, for him there is a double reward." (One reward for reciting the Qur'an and one reward for enduring the difficulty in recitation.)
Brief Explanation
(Commentary on Hadith 3399)
From this hadith, the virtue of the memorizer of the Qur’an (hafiz al-Qur’an) is understood, who will be with the noble and obedient, honored and respected scribes of Allah. «الماهر بالقرآن» means one who is proficient in reciting the Qur’an, who knows its meanings and implications, and the expert of the Qur’an is the one who recites it as much as possible.
«(جعلنا اللّٰه منهم).»
