Hadith 3399

حَدَّثَنَا رَزِينُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ حُمَيْدٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: "مَنْ اسْتَمَعَ إِلَى آيَةٍ مِنْ كِتَابِ اللَّهِ، كَانَتْ لَهُ نُورًا".
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: Whoever listens attentively to a single verse of the Noble Qur'an, it will be a light (illumination) for him.

Although these narrations are not authentic in terms of their chain of transmission, the one who listens to the Noble Qur’an also receives reward and merit just like the one who recites it.
