Sayyiduna Abu Sa‘id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Whoever is occupied by the recitation of the Noble Qur’an and remembering Me, such that he is prevented from asking Me, I will give him better reward than those who ask. And the greatness of Allah’s Word over all other words is like the greatness and majesty of Allah over His creation.”

Brief Explanation
(Commentary on Ahadith 3386 to 3388)
It is mentioned in Tirmidhi and others that Allah Ta'ala says: The one who is kept busy... that is, this is a Hadith Qudsi.
Its meaning is that the one whom the recitation of the Qur'an has kept occupied from supplications (awrad wa wazaif) and prayers, meaning that if he kept reciting the Qur'an and did not even make supplication, even then Allah Ta'ala will grant him more in this world and the Hereafter than those who ask (make supplication). From this, it is understood that reciting the Qur'an is more virtuous than all other supplications and invocations.
