باب في تَعَاهُدِ الْقُرْآنِ:Chapter on maintaining the Quran (reviewing it)
Hadith 3381
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي مُوسَى عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ: أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ: "تَعَلَّمُوا كِتَابَ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى وَتَعَاهَدُوهُ، وَاقْتَنُوهُ وَتَغَنَّوْا بِهِ، فَوَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ، لَهُوَ أَشَدُّ تَفَلُّتًا مِنْ الْمَخَاضِ فِي الْعُقُلِ".
Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated from his father that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Recite the Book of Allah, memorize it, adhere to it, and chant it. By the One in Whose hand is my soul, it slips away (from memory) even more quickly than a camel runs away." (That is, just as a camel runs away, the Holy Qur'an also disappears from hearts.)
