Hasan (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Do not bear witness to any will until it is recited to you, and do not testify for someone whom you do not know.

(Commentary on Hadith 3311)
It is narrated regarding Amir al-Mu’minin Sayyiduna Umar ibn al-Khattab radi Allahu anhu: He would point towards the sun and say: «على مثل هذه أشهد» Bear witness to something as clear as the sun, and the Shari‘ah has prohibited false testimony «ألا و شهادة الزور.» and in the Noble Qur’an it is stated: «﴿وَاجْتَنِبُواقَوْلَالزُّورِ﴾ [الحج : 30]» meaning, “Refrain from giving false testimony.”
