باب إِذَا أَعْتَقَ غُلاَمَهُ عِنْدَ الْمَوْتِ وَلَيْسَ لَهُ مَالٌ غَيْرُهُ:Chapter on freeing a slave at death when he owns nothing else
Hadith 3303
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ، عَنْ مُطَرِّفٍ، عَنْ الشَّعْبِيِّ: "فِي رَجُلٍ أَعْتَقَ غُلَامَهُ عِنْدَ الْمَوْتِ، وَلَيْسَ لَهُ غَيْرُهُ، وَعَلَيْهِ دَيْنٌ، قَالَ: يَسْعَى لِلْغُرَمَاءِ فِي ثَمَنِهِ".
Shu’bi (may Allah have mercy on him) said about the person who, at the time of his death, frees his slave, and he has no wealth other than the slave, and he is also in debt: Shu’bi (may Allah have mercy on him) said: According to his value, the slave will work for the creditors.
