Hadith 3221

Hisham narrated from his father: Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) went to visit a man from his tribe who was ill. The man said: Should I make a will? Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: No, you are not leaving behind any wealth; leave your (little) wealth for your children.

Brief Explanation
From the statement of Sayyiduna Ali ibn Abi Talib radi Allahu anhu, it is understood that in his view, there is no need for a bequest (wasiyyah) in the case of a small amount of wealth.
A bequest should only be made when the wealth is abundant.
