Abu Hayyan al-Taymi narrated from his father that Rabi’ bin Khuthaym wrote a will (in this manner): In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful: This is the will of Rabi’ bin Khuthaym. And I bear witness, and Allah’s testimony is sufficient, that He rewards His righteous servants with recompense and reward. I am pleased with Allah as my Lord, with Islam as my religion, and with Muhammad (peace be upon him) as my Prophet. And I command myself and whoever obeys me to worship Allah with the worshippers, to praise Him among those who praise, and to show goodwill to the Muslim community.

Brief Explanation
(Commentary on Ahadith 3214 to 3219) From all these traditions, the method of making a will (wasiyyah) is understood: it should be started with "Bismillah" and the testimony of faith (kalimah shahadah), and by making Allah Ta'ala a witness, one should first exhort one's family and dependents to remain firm and steadfast upon Islam and faith (iman). If there is any debt or trust (amanah), it should be specified. In spending for any good deed, one should act with justice and fairness, specifying the purpose.
