أَخْبَرَنَا سَهْلُ بْنُ حَمَّادٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ أَبِي يُونُسَ، عَنْ قَزَعَةَ، قَالَ: قِيلَ لِهَرِمِ بْنِ حَيَّانَ: أَوْصِهْ، قَالَ: "أُوصِيكُمْ بِالْآيَاتِ الْأَوَاخِرِ مِنْ سُورَةِ النَّحْلِ، وَقَرَأَ ابْنُ حَيَّانَ: ادْعُ إِلَى سَبِيلِ رَبِّكَ بِالْحِكْمَةِ إِلَى قَوْلِهِ: وَالَّذِينَ هُمْ مُحْسِنُونَ سورة النحل آية 125 - 128".
It is narrated from Qaza'ah that it was said to Harm bin Hayan, "Advise us." So he said: "I advise you to (recite) the last verses of Surah An-Nahl." And Ibn Hayan recited these verses from «ادْعُ إِلَى سَبِيلِ رَبِّكَ بِالْحِكْمَةِ» to «وَالَّذِينَ هُمْ مُحْسِنُونَ».
Brief Explanation
(The explanation of Ahadith 3209 to 3212)
The translation of these verses is as follows: "Call people to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good admonition, and argue with them in the best manner. Surely, your Lord knows best who strays from His path and He knows best those who are rightly guided. And if you take retribution, then let it be only to the extent of the injury that was inflicted upon you; but if you are patient, then surely patience is better for those who are patient.
You should be patient; without the divine enablement (tawfiq) from Allah, you cannot be patient. And do not grieve over their condition, and do not be distressed by the schemes and plots they devise. Know with certainty that Allah, the Exalted, is with those who are pious (muttaqun) and those who do good (muhsinun)."
