باب بَيْعِ الْوَلاَءِ:Chapter on selling wala'
Hadith 3191
حَدَّثَنَا يَعْلَى، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ، يَقُولُ: "لَا يُبَاعُ الْوَلَاءُ وَلَا يُوهَبُ، وَالْوَلَاءُ لِمَنْ أَعْتَقَ".
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) used to say: Wala’ (the right of inheritance from a freed slave) can neither be sold nor gifted, and Wala’ belongs to the one who set (the slave) free.
