Hadith 3081

Abu Harish said: Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) declared two brothers who had died in the Battle of Siffin to be heirs of one another.

Brief Explanation
(Commentary on Hadiths 3079 to 3081)

The detailed explanation has already passed above that if someone's death occurs in an accident and the precedence or delay (in time of death) is not known, then the deceased will not inherit from one another, and the inheritance will be distributed among their respective heirs. The chain of narration of the aforementioned athar (reports) from Sayyiduna Umar and Sayyiduna Ali radi Allahu anhuma is not authentic up to them, and even if it is considered authentic, it will be said that perhaps they had knowledge of the precedence or delay in the deaths of the deceased, which is why they declared them heirs of one another.

And Allah knows best.
