باب مَنْ قَالَ الْعِلْمُ الْخَشْيَةُ وَتَقْوَى اللَّهِ:Chapter: Knowledge is Fear of Allah and Piety
Hadith 297
أَخْبَرَنَا أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ أَسَدٍ أَبُو عَاصِمٍ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَمَانٍ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، عَنْ لَيْثٍ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ، عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ، قَالَ: "لَا يَكُونُ الرَّجُلُ عَالِمًا حَتَّى لَا يَحْسُدَ مَنْ فَوْقَهُ، وَلَا يَحْقِرَ مَنْ دُونَهُ، وَلَا يَبْتَغِيَ بِعِلْمِهِ ثَمَنًا".
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: A person cannot become a scholar until he does not envy one who is above him, does not consider one who is below him as insignificant, and does not seek compensation for his knowledge.
