Muslim said: We asked Masruq: Did Umm al-Mu'minin Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) have a good understanding of the obligatory duties (fara'id)? He said: By Him besides whom there is no deity, I have seen the senior companions of Muhammad (peace be upon him) that they too used to ask her about the obligatory duties.

Brief Explanation
(Commentary on Ahadith 2889 to 2893)
Imam Darimi rahimahullah has mentioned these traditions in the context of the science of fara'id (obligatory shares of inheritance) or 'ilm al-mawarith (the knowledge of inheritance laws), in which encouragement has been given to learn and acquire this knowledge.
In some other narrations, there is also encouragement to learn and acquire 'ilm al-fara'id, reported marfu'an from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah radi Allahu anhu and others, but all such narrations are weak. In Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah, and others, it is stated: "Acquire the knowledge of fara'id, for it is the first knowledge that will be forgotten." In some ahadith, it has been called half of knowledge, but this too is weak. For details, see: [إرواء الغليل 1664 ، 1665]. Despite this, the necessity and importance of this knowledge cannot be denied, and scholars who have complete mastery over it are indeed very rare.
