Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: When «﴿إِنَّاأَعْطَيْنَاكَالْكَوْثَرَ﴾» was revealed, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It is a river in Paradise whose banks are made of gold, it flows over pearls and rubies, its soil is more fragrant than musk, its taste is sweeter than honey, and its water is whiter (and clearer) than snow."

Brief Explanation
(Commentary on Hadith 2870)
The river of Kawthar will be granted to the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam in Paradise, whose description has been mentioned in the above hadith, and the Pond of Kawthar will be granted to him sallallahu alayhi wa sallam on the Day of Resurrection. Whoever drinks its water once will never feel thirst again. Its water will be coming from the river of Kawthar itself, and the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam will call his followers one by one and give them water to drink. Some people will be pushed away from there by the angels and will not be allowed to come to the Pond, and the angels will say: "You do not know what innovations (bid‘ah) they invented after you."
May Allah Ta‘ala make us lovers of the Sunnah and keep us away from innovation (bid‘ah), so that we may be granted the blessing of drinking from the Pond of Kawthar. Ameen.
