Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) delivered a sermon and said: "O people! Indeed, you will be resurrected barefoot, naked, and uncircumcised." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited this verse: «﴿كَمَابَدَأْنَاأَوَّلَخَلْقٍ . . . . . .﴾» (Al-Anbiya: 104/21) Translation: "As We began the first creation, We shall repeat it (i.e., resurrect you again). This is a promise binding upon Us, and We shall certainly fulfill it."
(Commentary on Hadith 2836) In this hadith, there is affirmation of the Resurrection (Hashr), and mention that people will be raised just as they were created, as well as a description of the terror of the Day of Judgment. There is a narration in Sahih Muslim: Umm al-Mu’minin Sayyidah Aisha radi Allahu anha inquired, “O Messenger of Allah! In such a naked state, will men and women be looking at one another?” He replied, “O Aisha! The matter at that time will be so dreadful that no one will have the opportunity to look at anyone else.” May Allah Ta’ala, through His mercy, grant us a place under His shade on the Day of Judgment amidst its terror and severity. Ameen.
