Hadith 2799

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ammar (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever has two faces (is two-faced) in this world, on the Day of Resurrection he will have two tongues of fire."

Brief Explanation
(Commentary on Hadith 2798)
By "dhul-wajhain" is meant a two-faced, deceitful person who approaches some people with one face and others with another, as is mentioned in [بخاري 6058] and [مسلم 2526]. That is, such a person who always speaks with ambiguity and flattery, tailoring his words to please whoever he is with, without regard for truth or falsehood. In the hadith, such a person is called "sharr an-naas"—the worst of people, a very evil person. In this hadith, his punishment and penalty are described as follows: on the Day of Resurrection, he will have two tongues, by which he will be recognized as a hypocrite and a deceitful person, and this is a great humiliation.
May Allah Ta'ala grant us the ability to understand the truth, to speak the truth, and protect us from two-facedness.
Ameen.
