Hadith 2776

أَخْبَرَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ، وَهَاشِمُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ , قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: "لَا يُؤْمِنُ أَحَدُكُمْ حَتَّى أَكُونَ أَحَبَّ إِلَيْهِ مِنْ وَالِدِهِ، وَوَلَدِهِ، وَالنَّاسِ أَجْمَعِينَ".
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "None of you will be a true believer until I become more beloved to him than his father, his children, and all people."
Brief Explanation
(Commentary on Hadiths 2774 to 2776)
That is, until the love of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) prevails over all other loves, perfect faith (iman) will not be attained. From this, it is understood that faith increases and decreases; the more a person fulfills the requirements of faith, the more perfect his faith will be.
From this hadith, it is understood: The more one loves the Sunnah and the possessor of the Sunnah (i.e., the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) above one’s parents, family, children, and all of creation, the greater and more complete one’s faith will be. And to the extent that there is deficiency in this love, there will also be deficiency in faith.
O Qamar, stop going to the gatherings of Satan,
There will be a breach in the religion, and a deficiency will come into faith.
