Ka'b bin Malik narrated from his father (Sayyiduna Malik Ansari, may Allah be pleased with him): He said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Two hungry wolves let loose among sheep do not cause as much corruption (damage) as the greed for wealth and status causes to a man's religion."

Brief Explanation
(Commentary on Hadith 2764)
That is, greed for wealth and honor and status is more dangerous for a person and his religion than hungry wolves, and is more destructive and ruinous to religion. Therefore, one should avoid greed and covetousness for wealth and prestige.
