Brief Explanation
(Commentary on Hadith 2740)

He is granted understanding of the religion, meaning Allah Ta'ala bestows upon him the knowledge of religion, and grants him perfect insight, sound understanding, sharp intellect, and strong memory, and his heart becomes illuminated with the sciences of religion and the rulings of the Shari'ah.

Hasan al-Basri rahimahullah said: The true jurist (faqih) is the one who is ascetic regarding the world, desirous of the Hereafter, and persistent in worship.

It is narrated from the hadith scholars (muhaddithin) that the meaning of "the fiqh of a man" is his insight.
