Brief Explanation
(Commentary on Hadiths 2731 to 2733)
From these hadiths, it is understood that those names whose meanings are not good should be changed, such as ‘Asiyah’, ‘Huzn’, and similar names. Likewise, those names in which there is self-praise or self-glorification should also be changed. For example, ‘Barrah’—people used to say that she considers herself pious and good, so the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) changed her name from Barrah to Zaynab.
