Hadith 272

Imam Ibrahim al-Nakha'i, may Allah have mercy on him, said: Whoever acquires knowledge for the pleasure of Allah Almighty, Allah gives him as much as is sufficient for him.

Brief Explanation
(Commentary on Hadiths 269 to 272)
This noble verse: «﴿وَمَنْ يَتَّقِ اللَّهَ يَجْعَلْ لَهُ مَخْرَجًا [2] وَيَرْزُقْهُ مِنْ حَيْثُ لَا يَحْتَسِبُ﴾ [الطلاق: 2، 3]» is its explanation.
That is, whoever adopts taqwa (God-consciousness) of Allah Ta’ala, Allah Ta’ala makes a way out for him and provides him sustenance from where he does not even imagine.
In all these narrations, along with acquiring knowledge, there is encouragement to act upon it. Also, it is emphasized that sincerity and seeking Allah’s pleasure (ikhlas wa lillahiyyat) are extremely necessary in both the acquisition of knowledge and righteous deeds (amal salih); otherwise, everything will be rendered void.
